Guy Collins’ Raised by Zombies is Adorable Animation

Guy Collins, who achieved some fame by creating the famous Kaizo Trap animation last year also has another animation that he’s been creating since 2013. Raised by Zombies is a serial, episodic animation, and it’s better than most of what’s on TV today.

There are some comparisons to be made with The Red Turtle: no one speaks, and it’s emotional and relationship oriented. Unlike The Red Turtle, I was grabbed immediately and kept entertained. There wasn’t a moment where I was bored. And, perhaps most importantly, nobody bangs a turtle.

Raised by Zombies follows the discovery and growth of a young girl who, seemingly, has the power to make everyone love her, including animals.

In a world taken over by zombies, a cat stumbles across a very young girl left in a dumpster and, in partnership with a dog, a bear and a stork, saves her from imminent zombie death. From there, it follows her journey which ranges from humorous and whimsical to deeply sad. Each episode is about 2 minutes long. You can check out the first one below.

Guy has been sporadically releasing episodes of this show for years, but like many indie creators, the lack of positive reinforcement or fan response may have created an environment where he didn’t feel compelled to work on it religiously. Following the success of Kaizo Trap, Guy Collins has been working more regularly on the show.

It’s on episode 11 of a planned 25. Everything can be found on Guy’s YouTube channel, where you can also subscribe. I recommend taking a look. It’s certainly better than the last several seasons of The Walking Dead, and that costs ~$3.4 million per episode.
