If you’re playing Borderlands 3, you may have heard of the Brainstormer, a legendary shotgun capable of tearing through mobs with huge AoEs of chaining electricity. This guide will tell you all you need to know about what the Brainstormer is capable of and where to farm it.

Borderlands 3 Brainstormer Traits

The Brainstormer is a shock elemental shotgun that, when fired, links enemies together with an electrical charge that deals significant damage and melts their shields. This weapon is, on most characters, considered to be one of the best all-around options for mobbing, and lucky for you, it’s very easy to farm and obtain.

The Brainstormer shotgun drops off of the Katagawa Ball, which is the final boss of the Skywell-27 area on Promethea. This is the area you visit with Rhys in order to destroy a giant laser that’s terrorizing the Atlas forces on Promethea. Katagawa Ball itself is a shockingly (heh) easy boss fight. In all the times I’ve fought it, I don’t think it’s even inflicted damage on me. To be honest with you, I’m not entirely sure what it’s attacks ever are. It has a huge surface area and it moves slow, so any weapon capable of pumping out a large amount of damage like the Dictator or The Cutsman will just absolutely melt through it in seconds.

That’s him. That’s the guy. It’s a huge, useless cyber ball and it hates you.

Here’s where this giant paperweight lives on the map:

This farm really shouldn’t take very long because, in all honesty, there aren’t that many varieties of Brainstormer and it drops a lot. Basically all you’re looking for is a Brainstormer with whatever your preferred anointment is.
