Persona 5 Royal Makoto Persona Guide & Best Build
If you’re playing Persona 5 Royal, you’ll want to know what skills Makoto can learn from her Persona, as well as which ones are most worthwhile to keep. This guide will help make sure that your Makoto is the best Makoto she can be and is taking full advantage of her persona at the end of the game.
Persona 5 Royal Makoto Persona Evolutions
Like every other character in the game, Makoto has 3 different evolutions for her Persona: Johanna, Anat and Agnes.
Johanna is received at the start of the 3rd palace, when Makoto awakens her persona in Kaneshiro’s Palace.
Johanna is upgraded to Anat when Makoto’s Priestess Confidant is maxed out to level 10. Johanna also gains the Evade Psy ability.
Finally, Makoto’s final Persona, Agnes, is obtained by speaking with Makoto during the bonus semester in January. Agnes gains the skill Checkmate, which is a multi-target Debilitate, and her trait is upgraded to Gaia Blessing, which gives the party a 50% improved chance of inflicting Shock/Burn/Freeze.
Makoto’s Best Endgame Build
Makoto, like everyone else, has 8 skills to pick from, and you want to make sure you have the best build possible. The top tier skills are:

These are all skills that Makoto learns naturally. You may want to hang onto Flash Bomb instead of Marakukaja since it’s her only physical attack, but I find Marakukaja to be more useful generally.
As for an accessory, I highly recommend either a Crystal Skull R or an Orichalcum R to combine with her best gun for an obscene stat boost. Her final gun + an Orichalcum R leaves her with +17 to all stats, which is pretty insane.

Additionally, Anat gains the skill Evade Psy automatically when she’s obtained, and Agnes grants the skill Checkmate, which casts Debilitate on all enemies.
