Keep in mind we’re talking about the four 3rd tier endgame class options, not the 2nd class or the 4th class. 2nd class you choose because you’re headed toward the 3rd class and 4th class is what you get based on what you chose for the 3rd class – it’s sort of just a bonus power upgrade.
S Tier – Trials of Mana Charlotte Best Class
No matter what you do with Charlotte, she’s not going to be a star player in the same way that Angela, Kevin, Duran and possibly even Hawkeye are capable of becoming. She’s a supporter. Which isn’t a bad thing necessarily, but we don’t just hand out S TIER status to support characters unless they’re really indispensable.
A Tier – Trials of Mana Charlotte Best Class
Sage – Trials of Mana Charlotte Best Class
Sage is actually pretty good. It gets passives that buff up your party’s attack and defense, it gets Attack Saber II and party-wide versions of all the basic elemental saber spells, it gets Lucent Beam+, giving it fairly decent offensive power.
If you’re not using Duran, it makes for a pretty decent replacement. Even though most characters can heal just fine with a Poto Oil, because Sage is able to provide so much support utility and damage in the form of Lucent Beam+, it doesn’t feel like you’re sacrificing a useful party member for a heal bot like it does in a lot of Charlotte’s other classes.
When trying to decide on the Trials of Mana Charlotte best class, if you’re using Charlotte and you’re not using Duran, pick Sage. No question about it.
B Tier – Trials of Mana Charlotte Best Class
None of Charlotte’s other classes really stand out quite the same way Sage does, and it’s mostly because healing items are so plentiful and none of the other classes really measure up in terms of utility. As a result, when it comes to Trials of Mana Charlotte best class options, there’s a pretty wide gap in usefulness between Sage and Charlotte’s other class options.
C Tier – Trials of Mana Charlotte Best Class
Necromancer – Trials of Mana Charlotte Best Class
Necromancer, along with all the rest of Charlotte’s classes, is guilty of being a heal bot. The one benefit Necromancer has over the other classes is Black Curse, which applies all stat debuffs at once, which is useful on bosses if you don’t have Duran, Reisz, Dark Hawkeye or Kevin in your party to apply defense down or if you have a magic-focused team, in which case… go Warlock. So, nice to have, but not essential.
She gains a few on-hit status effects (chance to inflict sleep on hit from Enchantress and chance to inflict burn on hit from Necromancer), which would probably synergize with Nightblade Hawkeye alright, although Nightblade is a distant 3rd place in terms of Hawkeye’s best classes. On their own, these status effects are not useful, since enemies die very quickly, even on hard and bosses are immune. However, she does also get a chance to petrify on hit, which is equivalent to instant death. Between that and her relatively high attack power, Necromancer performs pretty well on a physical-oriented team, especially if you have Duran, making Sage redundant.
She gains a handful of (fairly weak and slow) summon spells. They’re not terrible, but Sage’s Lucent Beam+ is much better.
This class suffers what a lot of Charlotte’s classes suffer from, which is the thing she’s best at, healing, is just not a very important thing to be good at in this game since there are so many powerful healing items.
Warlock – Trials of Mana Charlotte Best Class
Warlock is decent if you’re running with a magic focused party. In addition to providing the healing power that all of Charlotte’s classes provide, Demon is probably her best summon overall, she gets a decently powerful offensive spell in Fetid Breath (which also lowers Magic Attack/Defense) and she passively weakens all enemies.
Altogether, Warlock does add a decent amount of team support. Not nearly as much as what Sage brings to the table, but at least she’s not just a heal bot. If you’re using Angela and/or Rogue Hawkeye, Warlock provides some strong support for those classes. If you’re running with Reisz or Dark Hawkeye, though, Warlock is somewhat redundant, and if you’re not running with magic characters, you’re not getting very much out of that Fetid Breath utility.
What makes Warlock C Tier isn’t really its individual performance, it’s the fact that it’s really hard to think of a team composition where you wouldn’t be better served by having a different character. Angela and Rogue Hawk is just about the only team comp I can think of where Warlock outperforms another party member. Angela and Dark Hawk, you don’t need the stat downs, so you might as well use Reisz as your 3rd for the stat boosts and the summon damage, for instance. Include Kevin or any other physical character and Sage probably ends up being a better choice. Etc.
D Tier – Trials of Mana Charlotte Best Class
High Cleric – Trials of Mana Charlotte Best Class
High Cleric is the best healer in the game. It can overheal, giving you extra HP above and beyond your max HP. It passively restores HP to the party. It’s just an absolute beast when it comes to healing. Amazing, right?
The problem is, it can’t do anything else, which sort of takes her out of the running when it comes to the Trials of Mana Charlotte best class rankings. Which makes it somewhat terrible. Nothing in this game really challenges your party in a way that would require this level of healing. And for anything that does deal a decent amount of damage, you have Chocolates, Candies, Poto Oils, and Honey Elixirs. There are so many ways to heal that don’t require a whole party member dedicated to doing it.
She also learns Holy Saber in addition to the single-target versions of the Saber spells that she inherits from Priestess, which are alright if you don’t have Duran and you didn’t go Sage for whatever reason.
She doesn’t have any offense oriented abilities whatsoever except for the Holy Bolt spell she inherits from Priestess, she doesn’t buff the party through auras at all. Just healing. Awesome healing. Great healing. Would probably be amazing in a harder game. Not useful at all in this one.
F Tier – Trials of Mana Charlotte Best Class
Charlotte doesn’t really have any outright terrible classes. No matter what you pick, she ends up with a powerful Healing Light spell which, while not necessary at all due to the abundance of healing items available in the game, is still convenient. And as long as you didn’t pick High Cleric, she can still add to the overall effectiveness of the party in other ways. Her voice is pretty F Tier, though.
