The Build – Persona 4 Golden Kanji Skills
By the end of the game, the build you’re going to most likely want on Kanji, out of all his normal leveling skills, his available social link skills and his optional bike skills, is this:
Primal Force | Regenerate 3 |
Power Charge | Elec Boost |
Maziodyne | Elec Amp |
Matarukaja | Evade Wind |
In Persona 4 Golden Kanji has a lot of flexibility in his build, but ultimately I think this is what your best bet is.
Some people take both Vile Assault and Primal Force because if any enemy is knocked down, Vile Assault does more damage. Still, it’s not strictly necessary, especially since you’ll mostly be using these physical nukes on bosses and bosses won’t give you the opportunity to get the Vile Assault bonus damage.
You really don’t need both Ziodyne and Maziodyne on Kanji. I’d suggest you pick one or the other, though you’re certainly welcome to forego Regenerate 3 to keep both available. Like Chie, you mostly use Kanji’s spells to hit weaknesses for the knockdown and little else.
Elec Amp and Elec Boost also aren’t strictly necessary, because taking all of Kanji’s electric spells and boosts takes up 4 slots and makes him a mediocre mage at best. However, Kanji doesn’t have too many must have skills so you have room to keep them.
You could easily replace Elec Boost/Amp with Vile Assault and Fast Heal and you’d barely notice one way or another. The reason I keep them is because you’ll cast Maziodyne/Ziodyne much, much more often than you’d cast Vile Assault or see the effects of Fast Heal.
If you have the time, you could also replace Regenerate 3 with Mediarama if you so desired in order to give Kanji some healing utility, although I don’t think it’s worthwhile.

Social Link Skills – Persona 4 Golden Kanji Skills
These are the skills that Kanji can learn as he increases his social link (Emperor).
Name | Social Link Rank | Description |
Dizzy Boost | 2 | Increases chance of inflicting Dizzy |
Masukunda | 4 | Reduces Accuracy/Evasion for all enemies |
Power Charge | 6 | Next physical attack deals 2.5x damage |
Regenerate 3 | 8 | Restores 6% health every round |
Evade Wind | 10 | Triple evasion chance against wind attacks |
Bike Skills – Persona 4 Golden Kanji Skills
These are the Bike Skills available to Kanji in Persona 4 Golden. For more information on Bike Skills, check the Persona 4 Golden Bike Skills Guide.
Name | Bike Rides | Description |
Media | 1 | Minor healing for all allies |
Atom Smasher | 2 | Medium physical damage to all enemies 1-2 times, chance of inflicting Fear |
Blue Wall | 3 | Increases electric resistance for one ally |
Fast Heal | 4 | Status ailments last half as long |
Mediarama | 5 | Medium healing for all allies |
For Kanji, these skills not that great. Fast Heal is a nice little bonus skill that you might want to grab if you really, really have no way to spend your afternoon on days when Kanji is available for a bike ride. You could make an argument that Mediarama increases Kanji’s versatility, and if you are really trying to optimize Kanji specifically, there might be a spot for it, but in general it’s not worth going out of your way to get.
Unique Skill – Persona 4 Golden Kanji Skills
Each character’s unique skill is earned when they receive their 3rd Tier Persona. This happens in January when you spend an afternoon hanging out with a party member that has already achieved its 2nd Tier Persona by reaching their level 10 Social Link.
Kanji’s unique skill is The Man’s Way, which inflicts Dizzy and Down on all enemies. It’s not terribly useful and I would argue that it’s not even worthy of a spot in Kanji’s skillset. Still, it can be kind of an easy way to get an all out attack and kill those magical hands, but by the time you get it, you probably already have Yoshitsune and kill those hands in 1-2 rounds anyway.
