Overview & Review- Yakuza Like a Dragon Devil Rocker Job

yakuza like a dragon devil rocker

The Yakuza Like a Dragon Devil Rocket job is one of the two jobs that you get from DLC, with the other being the female-only Matriarch. However, while Matriarch is probably the best job for females overall, Devil Rocker is just ok.

In terms of classic RPG archetypes, Devil Rocker is most similar to a Warlock.

Devil Rocker has a fair amount of bladed attacks, making it somewhat of a Mage/Fighter hybrid, but it’s really more of a magic-oriented class when push comes to shove, and the vast amount of its magic is Fire elemental, except for a low level ice spell and a single non-elemental spell.

One nice thing about the Devil Rocker is it gets a target-all attack right from the very beginning at job level 1, meaning this character can easily attack all enemies right when you unlock it for a measly 6 MP. Unfortunately, that advantage is blunted because it’s pretty much the last job you’re able to unlock for any character thanks to its level 5 friendship bond requirement (or level 10 confidence requirement for Kasuga).

It does get a nice variety of different attack types, but that also adds to a sense that the class feels unfocused. Its best abilities are magic damage, but it doesn’t get very many Magic stat bonuses.

Its best skills feel really powerful when you unlock them at level 16, but not so much when you’re level 50+ and you’re still using level 16 skills while other classes have level 24 and level 28 skills. Speaking of those, Devil Rocker’s level 28 skill is very underwhelming. It’s an instant death attack with a decent chance to hit, but you have to compare it to the high damage attacks other jobs get that kill or nearly kill all enemies 100% of the time.

The Matriarch class makes the DLC worthwhile, but in my opinion Devil Rocker is just sort of an interesting bonus. If you want a Mage, make a Host or use Nanba. If you want a bladed damage dealer, make a Matriarch or use Zhao.

Yakuza Like a Dragon Devil Rocker Best Weapon

The best weapon for the Yakuza Like a Dragon Devil Rocker job is called the Infernal Crasher EX EX. Like all the best weapons, it’s obtained by upgrading a low level base weapon at the Romance Workshop in the Commercial District in Ijincho.

The base weapon you need is the Thrallmaster’s Axe, which you can buy from the Chau Ka Long Armory for 2,980,000 yen.

To finish upgrading the weapon, you need a lot of Golden Insects, which can be farmed in Floors 1-9 of the Sotenbori Battle Arena.

Yakuza Like a Dragon Devil Rocker Accessory

The Job Experience accessory for the Yakuza Like a Dragon Devil Rocker Job is pretty easy to obtain. It’s called the Doll of Torment. You can get one from Substory 39. Unfortunately there’s only one Doll of Torment available in the game, so the Devil Rocker can only achieve a 1.5x Job Experience bonus.

Character Skills – Yakuza Like a Dragon Devil Rocker Job

Every job in Yakuza Like a Dragon has two specific Character Skills, which, once learned, can be used by that character no matter which job class they’ve been assigned.

For the Devil Rocker job, the character skills are:

Vampirism: Steal an enemy’s HP by chomping into their neck.

Toxic Mist: Spew a toxic mist that may poison a single enemy and any enemies around them. May even poison yourself.

Unlike its DLC counterpart, the Matriarch, which has pretty good Character Skills, the Devil Rocker’s Character Skills are mostly forgettable.

Vampirism is a nice little skill with an awesome animation that has your character sucking out the enemy’s blood like a vampire, but aside from that it’s not very useful for anything except as a fallback bladed-type attack. It doesn’t do much damage, the healing isn’t very much, and Like a Dragon is a game where you can easily heal any character to full at any time via items or healing skills.

Toxic Mist is almost completely useless. Not only is poison fairly insignificant as a status effect, it has a relatively high chance of poisoning you. There’s a good chance using this skill will end up doing more damage to you than it will to enemies.
