Overview & Review- Yakuza Like a Dragon Fortuneteller Job

yakuza like a dragon fortuneteller

The Yakuza Like a Dragon Fortuneteller job has a mix of support abilities and offensive spells, but really the most notable thing about it is its excellent Character Skills that you’re surely going to want to pick up on at least one of your regular party members.

In terms of classic RPG archetypes, Musician is most similar to a Support Mage.

Actually uses the Fortuneteller as a main class has a few nifty tricks. It can raise the entire party’s Attack power. However, Kasuga can already do that in his Hero class. It can also inflict a ton of negative status effects onto a single target, which is kind of neat.

However, in direct contrast to almost every other job that offers its worst skills as transferable Character Skills, both of the Fortuneteller’s best skills are available. You can learn Fulminating Forecast, which is a fantastic lightning elemental spell, as well as Soul Tether, which is a reliable revival skill. Both of these skills go great on your resident mage (probably Nanba), and you should definitely pick them up.

Since Fortuneteller’s best skills are usable by any class, there’s not much reason to keep your character as a Fortuneteller once you’ve learned them. It doesn’t have a full party heal, which would give it a real niche. It doesn’t have a powerful target-all Essence spell. Its stat bonuses are some of the worst, and the least generous of any class, and its final weapon is the most tedious weapon to level up because it almost exclusively requires large quantities of Raw Diamond Ore as a crafting ingredient.

Yes, Fortuneteller gives Magic bonuses, but it’s the 4th best class to level up for Magic bonuses. Homeless Guy, Host and Chef are all better options, and you’ll be playing this game for well over 150 hours before you ever consider leveling up a 4th class.

So, in conclusion, get Nanba to level 18 in Fortuneteller to pick up Fulminating Forecast and you’ll be glad you did. Then change back to another class and never look back.

Yakuza Like a Dragon Fortuneteller Best Weapon

yakuza like a dragon fortuneteller best weapon

The best weapon for the Yakuza Like a Dragon Fortuneteller job is called the Diamond Orbuculum EX EX. Like all the best weapons, it’s obtained by upgrading a low level base weapon at the Romance Workshop in the Commercial District in Ijincho.

The base weapon you need is the Stone Orb, which you can get from Gambling Hall for 300 wooden tags.

To finish upgrading the weapon, you need a Pure Gold Ball, which can be bought from the Gambling Hall for 150,000 tags (yikes) or bought from Le Marche in Kamurocho for 10,000,000 yen.

I would also note that upgrading the Diamond Orbuculum requires tons of Raw Diamond Ore, which is a real pain to farm for.

Yakuza Like a Dragon Fortuneteller Accessory

The Job Experience accessory for the Yakuza Like a Dragon Fortuneteller Job is pretty easy to obtain. It’s called the Dice of Disaster. You can get one by completing Substory 25 or buy as many as you like from the secret shop in the far Southwest corner of Ijincho’s Commercial District (Demolish required).

Since you can obtain multiple Dice of Disaster, Fortuneteller is able to equip two at once to boost its job experience by 2x.

Character Skills – Yakuza Like a Dragon Fortuneteller Job

Every job in Yakuza Like a Dragon has two specific Character Skills, which, once learned, can be used by that character no matter which job class they’ve been assigned.

For the Fortuneteller job, the character skills are:

Soul Tether: Revive a fallen ally after communing with their soul in the underworld.

Fulminating Forecast: Deal electric damage to multiple enemies by detecting where lightning will strike. May leave the enemies paralyzed.

Say what you will about the Fortuneteller as a whole, it has, hands down, the best set of Character Skills out of any job.

Fulminating Forecast is probably the best overall Character Skill. It’s the only lightning spell in the game that can be used in a magic-focused class, it does fantastic damage, it inflicts one of the best status afflictions in the game, it hits multiple enemies, and it strikes a weakness that’s very common among enemies in Like a Dragon. It’s highly recommended that you get this skill on your mage character (probably Nanba).

Soul Tether is less useful, but still one of the better Character Skills. It’s a reliable revival spell, which gives your character a nice tool it wouldn’t otherwise have. Definitely a welcome pickup.
