This best Persona 5 Strikers characters tier list will give you a rundown on each of the best Persona 5 Strikers characters so you can make the Persona 5 Strikers best party.
If you’re playing Persona 5 Strikers, you’re going to want to know who the best Persona 5 Strikers characters are so you can make the Persona 5 Strikers best party possible. In this game, sometimes the Persona 5 Strikers best party really depends on the enemies you’re facing because hitting enemies’ elemental weaknesses is incredibly important and effective. This will be taken into account throughout the Best Persona 5 Strikers Characters Tier List.
As with all tier lists for games like this, there is a certain amount of subjectivity. I will mention that I play almost every single RPG that comes out and have for over two decades, and I played Persona 5 Strikers thoroughly, and multiple times, including at the highest difficulty, you may not agree with these best Persona 5 Strikers characters tier list rankings 100%, and that’s ok.
With that out of the way, let’s get into the Best Persona 5 Strikers Characters Tier List.
S Tier – Best Persona 5 Strikers Characters Tier List
As a newcomer to the party, Sophia is easily one of the best Persona 5 Strikers characters, for several reasons. First, she’s probably the best healer in the game. While she doesn’t have access to Salvation, she gets Divine Grace, which boosts healing power, as well as revival spells (unlike Makoto). Thanks to Divine Grace, her lower tier healing spells typically heal the party to full without spending nearly as much MP as the more powerful Mediarahan or Salvation.
Second, Sophia’s element, which she can use via direct spells or passively in her attack strings, is the Bless element, which is a very common elemental weakness for enemies in almost every dungeon, as well as a weakness for the final boss itself.
Sophia’s attack strings are good, are decently fast, and hit in a wide area, making her a capable attacker. Her magic power is decently strong. She’s an all around great fighter, and you’ll probably find her to be a must-have if you’re trying to make the Persona 5 Strikers best party throughout the game.
When it comes to Persona 5 Strikers best characters, Joker very simply has a versatility that every other character in the game lacks. Every persona changes his moveset in large and small ways, not only affecting the element of his elemental combo, but also giving him specific skills that he can activate via his attack strings without using MP. With higher level personas, these free skills can be incredibly useful, such as Heat Riser or Debilitate, or any number of powerful spells and attacks.
Joker is the only character who can access the Curse element, and you’ll find that it’s very useful to have Joker outfitted with every possible element across multiple Personas throughout the game, so that if you encounter an enemy with a weakness your other characters can’t address, Joker can pick up the slack.
Another nice thing about Joker is that he has gun skills that don’t use any ammunition, so if you come up against any enemies weak to gun, Joker makes mincemeat out of them no matter how much HP they have.
While Joker’s physical attack chain isn’t the best, his versatility is what makes him S Tier. He’s useful in every dungeon, and by the end of the game, when you unlock the very best personas, he really becomes unrivaled among the other best Persona 5 Strikers characters.
A Tier – Best Persona 5 Strikers Characters Tier List
In terms of the best Persona 5 Strikers characters, Wolf has, in my opinion, the best attack chain out of all the characters. It’s very Dynasty Warriors-esque, and it allows him to deal a series of 360 degree strikes in a huge range against all surrounding enemies. In terms of room clear, there’s just no beating it. Only Yusuke comes close, and Yusuke’s combo requires a great deal more setup and still isn’t quite as effective.
In terms of his skills, he doesn’t bring as much to the table as many other characters in terms of elemental affinities, because his Persona focuses on the Megido line of spells, which no enemies are specifically weak against. Still, he makes up for that with the utility spells he provides in the form of Heat Riser and Debilitate.
If you outfit Wolf for high critical hit chance, he’ll hold his own in staggering enemies even if he’s not able to hit elemental weaknesses. While you may want to swap Wolf out for encounters that you know ahead of time will require targeting a specific elemental weakness, Wolf is unbeatable when it comes to general crowd-clear, and his utility spells make him useful against bosses.
Morgana is similar to Sophia when it comes to the best Persona 5 Strikers characters in that he’s a healing character. He’s a stronger healer than Sophia, albeit one who requires a lot more MP, but weaker in terms of his attack chain and his spell power. Wind is not as common as a weakness as Bless, but it’s still a very useful element to have around in your party.
It’s also not a bad idea when building the Persona 5 Strikers best party to include two healers, just to spread the MP usage around. It’s a terrible feeling when you’re using just Sophia and you’re facing off against a boss weak against Bless and you have to divide her MP usage between healing and attack magic. Morgana and Sophia in the same party is a really strong combo for that reason.
One of the nice things about Morgana is that his elemental attack chain (three light attacks, heavy attack) comes out relatively quickly, so it’s easy to spam on bosses that are weak to wind. It’s not exceptionally strong, but it is fast, so you should be able to get 1-2 of them off during a boss or enemies’ hitstun animation after hitting them with a full powered -Garu spell.
B Tier – Best Persona 5 Strikers Characters Tier List
Yusuke’s magic isn’t particularly good and his attack skills aren’t particularly useful, but what makes Yusuke one of the best Persona 5 Strikers characters is that his elemental attack string is probably the best that any character gets access to. If you activate his combo extension ability by using his longer attack strings, the final hit in his elemental attack string just keeps repeating almost indefinitely as long as you mash the button. It does end, but it goes so long that you’re much more likely to be interrupted than for it to end naturally.
This means that against enemies weak to Ice, which aren’t super common, but are common enough, Yusuke is capable of staggering them quickly and efficiently without having to rely on MP nearly as much as any of the other characters.
Yusuke is also second only to Wolf in terms of the sheer effectiveness of his physical attack strings, which are fast, hit in a wide area, and do decent damage. If Wolf didn’t exist, Yusuke would probably be in A Tier, but honestly Wolf steals a lot of his thunder and makes him obsolete in encounters that don’t involve ice weaknesses.
When it comes to the best Persona 5 Strikers characters, Makoto is alright. I think the bottom of B tier is a fair place to put her. She had decent healing skills, but no revival ability, so you’re not going to want to rely on her as your only healer. Her magic power is decently high, so when it comes to hitting the Nuclear element, she does a great job, and her elemental attack string is similarly pretty good when it comes to hitting the Nuclear element, which is a much more common weakness than you might expect.
Unfortunately, outside of hitting Nuclear weaknesses, her attack string leaves a lot of be desired. It’s decently fast, but it includes all sorts of motorcycle-centric moves that are a little unwieldy and not particularly effective. It also doesn’t have the sheer range and AoE potential that Wolf, Yusuke and even Sophia have access to.
Of the three healers, she’s probably the weakest. Her attack string is probably equal to or slightly worse than Morgana’s and not nearly as good as Sophia’s. Her element is pretty useful. She’s solid, but definitely not the best.
C Tier – Best Persona 5 Strikers Characters Tier List
Haru is decent enough when it comes to the best Persona 5 Strikers characters. She hits Psy weaknesses and has powerful gun skills that don’t take up any ammunition. Psy is a much more common weakness in Persona 5 Strikers that you’d probably expect, and typically you’re going to be hitting that weakness with Joker. Unfortunately, Joker’s elemental attack string with Psy-elemental personas doesn’t seem to hit Psy weaknesses, meaning he has to rely on spells when it comes to that element, which means if you’re in a dungeon with a lot of Psy-weak enemies, there’s some room for Haru to shine.
Still, Haru’s not that great. Her attack chain is really slow. Not quite as slow as Ryuji’s, but certainly very slow. Her gun attacks are interesting, but anything weak to gun is basically a free kill as long as you have Joker in the party, which you almost certainly do. Most things Haru can do, Joker can do better, so unless you specifically need Haru to hit the Psy element and take some of the responsibility off of Joker’s shoulders, she’ll probably end up benched most of the game and won’t make it into your Persona 5 Strikers best party.
When it comes to the best Persona 5 Strikers characters, Ann is pretty much good for hitting Fire-elemental weaknesses and not much else. Her attack chain is slow and its mechanics are somewhat clunky, requiring her to constantly refresh the fire elemental additions on her attacks.
She has high magic damage, which is great, but the metagame of Persona 5 Strikers is really about focusing on hitting elemental weaknesses and decimating enemies with overpowered attack chains. When it comes to hitting elemental weaknesses, Ann is great, but Fire isn’t nearly as common as you’d expect in terms of an elemental weakness, and her attack chain just isn’t as good as many of the other characters.
You’re almost certainly going to want to bring Ann out for specific encounters where Fire elemental damage is required, but outside of those specific circumstances, it’s unlikely you’ll be considering her for your Persona 5 Strikers best party.
D Tier – Best Persona 5 Strikers Characters Tier List
Unfortunately, at the bottom of the best Persona 5 Strikers characters tier list, is one of my favorite characters, Ryuji. As I mentioned above, doing well in Persona 5 Strikers is really about 2 things: abusing elemental weaknesses, and fast, powerful attack chains that hit in a wide area.
When it comes to hitting elemental weaknesses, Ryuji is definitely capable of hitting Lightning elemental weaknesses, but his magic power is low, so he’s not as effective when it comes to that role as almost any other character. Lightning also isn’t a hugely common weakness, and it’s also quite common for Joker to have a lightning elemental persona available, making Ryuji unnecessary. There are a handful of fights during the game where you’ll want to bring him out for the Lightning element, but they’re few and far between.
When it comes to his attack string, Ryuji isn’t much better. His attacks are decently strong, thanks to his high attack power, but his attack string is slow, easily interrupted (even with the interrupt protection he gets), and don’t hit in a big enough area. His attack string is just nowhere near as good as Wolf’s or Yusuke’s; it’s really more on par with Haru, who has a more useful element and some interesting gun attacks.
If you’re trying to make the Persona 5 Strikers best party, you probably won’t be including Ryuji.
Persona 5 Strikers Best Party Overall
In my opinion, unless you specifically need to include a character for an encounter, the best party overall is Joker, Sophia, Wolf and Morgana, and then you’d swap out Wolf or Morgana whenever you need to include a specific character for a boss fight or similarly difficult encounter where you need their specific element.
That about does it when it comes to the Best Persona 5 Strikers Characters Tier List. You can check out my full review of Persona 5 Strikers on YouTube if you like, and be sure to check out the main page for more RPG game guides.
