Without further ado, let’s get into the Darkest Dungeon 2 Plague Doctor Skills List.
1. Noxious Blast – Darkest Dungeon 2 Plague Doctor Skills
Noxious Blast deals 2-3 damage and inflicts a 4 damage blight.
Usable: Ranks 2-4
Targets: Ranks 1-2 (Single Target)
Noxious Blast Mastery Upgrade: Increases base damage to 3-4 and blight damage to 6. Bypasses 30% blight resistance when target has a combo token.
Review: Noxious Blast is Plague Doctor’s bread and butter. It’s not quite as useful as Plague Grenade since it only hits one enemy, but it’s Plague Doctor’s only real option when it comes to dealing damage to an enemy in ranks 1-2. Great for piling up DoTs on a high health enemy.
2. Blinding Gas – Darkest Dungeon 2 Plague Doctor Skills
Blinding Gas inflicts blind all enemies in ranks 3-4. One round cooldown.
Usable: Ranks 3-4
Targets: Ranks 3-4 (Targets All)
Blinding Gas Mastery Upgrade: Inflicts daze in addition to blind. Inflicts a combo token 33% of the time.
Review: Blinding Gas is pretty good, it can prevent a lot of damage when you use it on the first turn. Plague Grenade targets the same enemies and is useful in more situations, but having a blind in your kit comes in handy.
3. Incision – Darkest Dungeon 2 Plague Doctor Skills
Incision deals 3-6 damage to a single target and inflicts a 3 damage bleed.
Usable: Ranks 1-3
Targets: Ranks 1-2 (Single Target)
Incision Mastery Upgrade: Increases base damage to 4-7, increases crit to 15%, increases bleed damage to 4. Ignores 30% of bleed resistance when target has a combo token.
Review: Incision is an alright skill but it requires positioning Plague Doctor in rank 3 or lower, which is not a great idea. It doesn’t synergize with any other skills. Its main use is to give Plague Doctor something to use when he’s out of position.
4. Battlefield Medicine – Darkest Dungeon 2 Plague Doctor Skills
Battlefield Medicine heals a single target with less than 50% HP for 20% and removes all burns, bleeds and blight tokens. 3 uses per battle.
Usable: Ranks 3-4
Targets: Any Ally with under 50% health or a DoT
Battlefield Medicine Mastery Upgrade: Increases the heal to 25%, removes DoTs from the caster as well as the target.
Review: If you’re using Plague Doctor it’s probably to use this skill. Objectively, it’s just ok, but compared to other heals available in the game it’s the most reliable and straightforward heal. You’ll use it a lot.
5. Ounce of Prevention – Darkest Dungeon 2 Plague Doctor Skills
Ounce of Prevention increases resistance to all damage over time effects by 10% and increases resistance to plague effects by 15%. Three round cooldown.
Usable: Ranks 3-4
Targets: All Allies
Ounce of Prevention Mastery Upgrade: Increases DoT resistance to 15%. Increases plague resistance to 30%. Heals 1 stress for all party members with 5+ stress.
Review: This skill is mostly useful for the stress heal it gets from its mastery upgrade. Even then, it’s not a great stress heal compared to what Jester and Man-at-Arms get. Plague Doctor has much better skills.
6. Plague Grenade – Darkest Dungeon 2 Plague Doctor Skills
Plague Grenade deals 1-2 damage and applies a 3 damage blight to enemy ranks 3-4.
Usable: Rank 3-4
Targets: Rank 3-4 (Targets All)
Plague Grenade Mastery Upgrade: Increases damage to 2-3, increases blight DoT to 4.
Review: This is one of Plague Doctor’s bread and butter skills. It’s very straight forward but if you’re using Plague Doctor you’ll probably use this skill often. Awesome for getting rid of evasion and damage blocking tokens.
7. Emboldening Vapours – Darkest Dungeon 2 Plague Doctor Skills
Emboldening Vapours gives everyone in your party a strength token.
Usable: Ranks 1-4
Targets: Any Allies
Emboldening Vapours Mastery Upgrade: Grants allies a speed token in addition to a strength token.
Review: Emboldening Vapours is a decent buff but it can be difficult to find a slot for it on your roster since Plague Doctor has so many good skills. It only affects one ally so unless that ally has a really heavy hitting skill like Hellion or Leper, it’s probably best for the Plague Doctor to just do something else.
8. Disorienting Blast – Darkest Dungeon 2 Plague Doctor Skills
Disorienting Blast shuffles the target enemy’s position, inflicts Daze and inflicts Weakness 25% of the time.
Usable: Ranks 2-4
Targets: Ranks 2-4
Disorienting Blast Mastery Upgrade: Stuns enemies that have a combo token.
Review: This is a questionably useful skill that doesn’t really deserve a slot. The most useful part of it is the Daze, which Blinding Gas also inflicts on multiple targets once it’s upgraded.
9. Indiscriminate Science – Darkest Dungeon 2 Plague Doctor Skills
Indiscriminate Science heals a target ally by 10% for each positive token it has. Removes all positive tokens. One round cooldown.
Usable: Ranks 2-4
Targets: Any Ally
Indiscriminate Science Mastery Upgrade: Also heals by 10% for each negative token and removes all negative tokens.
Review: Before the mastery bonus it’s not great, but synergizes pretty well with Man-at-Arms as he can stack up 4 positive tokens just by using upgraded Retribution. After the mastery bonus, it’s excellent, as it fully purges all negative effects and has no usage limit unlike Battlefield Medicine.
10. Cause of Death – Darkest Dungeon 2 Plague Doctor Skills
Cause of Death instantly triggers all damage over time effects on an enemy for 75% of their remaining damage.
Usable: Ranks 1-3
Targets: Ranks 1-3 (Single Target)
Cause of Death Mastery Upgrade: Adds a combo token to the target. Deals 100% of remaining DoT damage.
Review: You can see some big numbers with Cause of Death but in my opinion it’s not that great. Most of the time it’s better to just let the DoTs tick while you tack on more damage or have Plague Doctor do something else.
11. Magnesium Rain – Darkest Dungeon 2 Plague Doctor Skills
Magnesium Rain clears all corpses on the field and inflicts a 3 damage burn DoT on all enemies.
Usable: Ranks 3-4
Targets: Ranks 1-4 (Targets All)
Magnesium Rain Mastery Upgrade: Increases the burn DoT damage to 3.
Review: Magnesium Rain is mainly good in two situations: clearing corpses if you don’t have Grave Robber or Occultist, and removing evasion tokens from cultists all at once at the start of a cultist fight. Otherwise, there are better options.
