I’m not going to cover every single item in the game, this Rune Factory 5 material farming guide will cover the best farming spots for various materials, ore, plants, fish, etc that you typically need to collect in large amounts, or on a regular basis.

Without further ado, let’s get into the Rune Factory 5 material farming guide. First up, materials.

Materials – Rune Factory 5 Material Farming

When talking about materials in this section, what I’m referring to is lumber and material stone, the things that drop from tree stumps and rocks as you clean up around the various farming areas.

Now, obviously you get this from tree stumps and stones. You get a certain amount every day, usually around 30 of each material.

If you need to supercharge your grinding speed on this items in order to afford new renovations, though, there are some options you have that allow you to collect tons of lumber and stone.

The main, and best, way to get a ton of these materials is to reserve one or more of your farm dragons for just getting overgrown with stumps, weeds and rocks.

Then, you can spend a day harvesting all of the built up materials there, and usually end up with about 200 or so of lumber and material stone by the end of one in-game day.

If you don’t want to go to that length and just want a few extra materials every day, there are a couple of good spots for that.

For material stone, there are some rocks outside of Terry’s detective agency. There are also some rocks next to the Eastern entrance to the town, Southeast of the Crystalabra.

For lumber, there are usually extra stumps near the gazebo up the hill North of the item shop, and near the beach.

For lumber, you can get practically infinite lumber by growing Twinkle Trees and chopping them. Just make sure you don’t completely destroy the tree. When you’ve collected all the lumber you want from it, toss a 4-Leaf Clover, Wilted Grass or Corn onto it and hit it with your Hoe to heal it back up.

For information on how to acquire Twinkle Seeds, check the Tree Seeds guide.

Minerals/Ore – Rune Factory 5 Materials Farming

When talking about Minerals/Ore, I mean things like Iron, Silver, Gold, etc.

For Blacksmithing and Crafting, you’ll need to collect a ton of each ingredient, so you’ll be on a constant quest to find minerals. In my opinion, these are the most convenient collection spots for all of the major ores.

Iron

You need a lot of iron early on but as the game goes on it tends to become something that just fills up your storage space. You get more than enough naturally going through the game, but still if you need to farm some, the best place is the Kelve Lava Caves Floor 1 and Floor 2. You’ll also find Bronze there.

Bronze

For Bronze, you’ll want to hit up Atohl’s End 1F for some easy Bronze deposits. There are also Bronze deposits in the aforementioned Kelve Lava Caves.

Silver

For Silver, if you’re not at the end of the game, you’ll want to go to the Gradeus Grasslands (Depths), then walk outside and go straight to the rock formation on your left. You’ll find tons of Silver deposits there.

If you’re at the end of the game, it’s much easier to just go to Cloudheim 1F, as there are Silver and Gold deposits right next to the entrance.

Gold

For Gold, you’ll want to go to the Thundering Wastes 1F.

You can also find Gold deposits easily at Cloudheim 1F, next to the Silver deposits.

Diamond

The best place for Diamond in terms of Rune Factory 5 material farming before the end of the game is Thundering Wastes 2F. Teleport to Thundering Wastes 3F, then walk backwards and there are a few Diamond deposits right outside.

Basara’s Hideaway 2F is also a good spot for Diamond.

For Orichalcum, aside from one piece contained in a chest towards the end of the game, your only real option is the first 5 floors of the Rigbarth Maze, where you’ll find a ton.

Draconic Stone

Draconic Stone only really appears in two locations for Rune Factory 5 material farming. The first is Rigbarth Maze F17, near the entrance.

Rune Crystal

Rune Crystals rarely drop when you destroy… Rune Crystals, the things spread around the game that give RP.

These drop extremely rarely until you get the Platinum Hammer, and then start to drop somewhat frequently. They can drop from any Rune Crystal.

Rune Crystals appear next to the entrance to most dungeons, as well as on the first floor of most dungeons and before most dungeon boss rooms.

Some of the best places for Rune Crystals are:

  • Thundering Wastes 3F. Turn around and go back to Thundering Wastes 2F and there are 2 Rune Crystals there.
  • Thundering Wastes 1F. There’s a Rune Crystal next to you, then you can go outside and get the one there.
  • Atohl’s End 1F. Rune Crystal next to entrance and outside.
  • Kelve Lava Caves 1F. Rune Crystal next to entrance and outside.
  • Meline Crystal Caverns B1. Rune Crystal next to entrance and outside.

Plants – Rune Factory 5 Material Farming

For grinding Chemisty levels, you need a lot of plants. The Rune Factory 5 material farming locations for plants are all over the place, and there are tons of plants.

Later Chemistry levels require a lot of flowers, which you’ll need to grow or buy from the Flower Shop. But until level 60 or so you can get away with harvesting plants that respawn around the map every day.

I’m not going to cover every single plant here, just the grasses you find in the wild. I’m also not going to give every single location, just the ones where you can teleport in, snag the plants easily and be done.

Green Grass, Medicinal Herbs and Antidote Grass

Green Grass, Medicinal Herbs and Antidote Grass are found next to the entrance to the Earth Dragon, right outside your house.

Another good spot is the clearing in Phoros Woodlands near the place you find Tree Seeds.

Blue Grass

Blue Grass can be found next to a tree slightly South to the entrance to the Earth Dragon. You can usually get 2-5 of them at this spot per day.

Another place for Blue Grass is Meline Crystal Cavern B1, where you can find some near the entrance.

rune factory 5 material farming blue grass 2

Blue Grass is good for Recovery Potions, Crafting Level 15, and Formula A, Crafting Level 29, both of which are great for grinding Chemistry levels.

Withered Grass

Withered Grass is surprisingly useful for something that’s essentially just a weed. Not only is it used in a number of Chemistry recipes, it also has a special function where it heals your soil if you toss it on a soil square and hit it with a hoe.

Withered Grass appears randomly around the various farming areas.

Another good spot for Withered Grass is the Atohl’s End 1F, next to the entrance.

You should never throw away the Withered Grass you find. Always stash it for later.

You need Indigo Grass for Greenifiers (Chemistry Level 34). You can find it in the Forest of No Return 1F

Elli Leaves

Elli Leaves are used in Magical Potions (Chemistry Level 45), which is, in my opinion, the best way to grind your Chemistry level from 40 to 50.

You can find them all over Cloudheim, but in terms of Rune Factory 5 materials farming you can snag them easily at Cloudheim 1F.

Sticks and Stems

I’m not going to cover all the different kinds of sticks and stems you can acquire here. Most of the time a crafting recipe just wants “Sticks and Stems” and you can use any stick of any quality. Usually it makes almost no difference in the end product whether you use a high quality stick or just a common stick.

With that in mind, the best options for Rune Factory 5 material farming of sticks and stems are Sticks and Thick Sticks.

Sticks

For Sticks, head over to the Whispering Woods and farm them off of Orcs. If you want a better drop rate, check out the Rare Drops guide.

Thick Sticks

Thick Sticks are dropped by the various Ghost type enemies found around the map. The easiest Rune Factory 5 material farming spot for these is outside the entrance of Atohl’s End.

Fish – Rune Factory 5 Material Farming

For most of the game, making sashimi out of Fish is the easiest way to grind up your Cooking levels, because it often only requires a single ingredient.

I’m not going to cover every fish, but here are several fish that will help you grind up your Cooking levels.

Shrimp, Char, Turbot & Rainbow Trout

These are fish commonly found in the fishing hole right next to the Bread Shop.

The Rainbow Trout is fairly rare.

Making sashimi with these fish should get you to Cooking level 22 or so pretty easily.

Skipjack, Flounder & Blowfish

These fish are pretty commonly found in the Whispering Woods fishing spot.

rune factory 5 material farming fish 2

Skipjack and Flounder will take you to Cooking level 40 or so. Blowfish is used much later (level 71+), but you’ll want to stock up on those for later because they’re very useful.

Snapper, Throbby Snapper & Glitter Snapper

These fish are found commonly in Cloudheim 2F. They’ll take from from Cooking level 50 to about Cooking level 70.

rune factory 5 material farming fish 3

Yellowtail

Yellowtail can be found 10% of the time at Cloudheim 1F. It’ll get you to Cooking level 75 or so.
