Review: The Japanese House

The Japanese House is a gen z band. They play a sort of droning, melancholy rock that I find to be very relaxing. It’s a unique style and it’s well done. My only gripe with them is maybe that the style is so dialed in that a lot of the songs blend in and sound similar. Not a lot of dynamism or stylistic variance.

They are a great band to put on for any kind of melancholic, nostalgic sort of activity. Staring out a window while looking at rain. Taking a long, candlelit bath. Walking dogs in deep, gray fog. Staring at the ceiling and wondering when exactly it was that your life went off the rails and all your potential melted into the ether, never to return again.

Anyway, thumbs up.

Here’s one of their songs:

The Japanese House. 4 stars.
