Borderlands 3 Spiritual Driver Traits
The Spiritual Driver does two key things. First, whenever you activate your action skill, you put a DoT on yourself. This might seem like a negative thing at first, but when you have a DoT, your Mindfulness stacks build up rapidly, and if you have the Conflux skill you might even DoT yourself twice, doubling the rate the Mindfulness stacks rack up. With max Mindfulness, you’ll be zooming around the battlefield like a rocket, especially considering the Spiritual Driver gives bonus points for Mindfulness.
The second thing the Spiritual Driver does in Borderlands 3 is that it makes your gun damage scale with your movespeed, so the faster you’re moving, the more damage you deal. The rate of scaling it gives is nuts. If you’re at max Mindfulness, moving fullspeed, you’re getting somewhere in the vicinity of +500% increased damage. Not only that, because of the wonky way that Borderlands 3 calculates damage, it buffs your DoTs in real time.
Borderlands 3 calculates all damage based on your current modifiers, not the modifiers you had when you released the damage. So if you fire a bullet from say, a Cutsman, while standing still, and then start moving before the bullet hits the target, the bullet will get the bonus damage from movespeed. Similarly, if you apply a DoT and then start moving, the DoT will actually increase in power as long as you’re running around.
Amara’s Spiritual Driver mod in Borderlands 3 drops off of one of Zer0’s crew challenge targets named Sylestro in the Tazendeer Ruins. It’s not a very large map, and he’s not very hard to find. Keep in mind you need to be on Mayhem 4 for this mod to drop here.
There are actually two targets at this location, Sylestro and Atomic, both of whom are Maliwan Heavies. They’re not terribly hard to kill.
Sylestro is the one who drops the Spiritual Driver. Ideally, you’ll want to find one with +3 Mindfulness, high cooldown reduction and +damage for whatever brand of gun you most commonly use which, for Amara, tends to be Maliwan, Jakobs, or Atlas.
