Borderlands 3 Amara Class Mods RANK & REVIEW

If you’re playing Borderlands 3 as Amara, you’re going to want to know which class mods you should be looking for. While you find a number of green, blue and purple class mods throughout the game, legendary class mods provide unique perks that the common mods just can’t live up to. Most characters in Borderlands 3 at this point have about 8 legendary class mods, and Amara is no exception. So which are the best legendary class mods for Amara in Borderlands 3? Read on to find out.

7. Dragon

dragon

Dragon is not good. It’s glitchy, its effect isn’t very strong. It does give bonuses to pretty decent skills (Do Harm, Restless & Revenant), which is it’s one redeeming feature. Dragon is specifically intended for a melee build. First of all, it doesn’t actually work. Second of all, even if it did work, proccing an Action Skill secondary effect is somewhat useless. Third, you have to actually get the kill with a melee hit, and if you’re rolling a melee build you know that a lot of the time enemies die to DoT damage in between melee hits. Just overall not good. If you find a random mod with better skills, it’s a better choice than the Dragon.

6. Breaker – Borderlands 3 Amara Class Mods

breaker

Breaker gives a fairly significant amount of damage reduction when struck by nearby enemies. We’re talking like 25%+ damage reduction. This is alright. It’s not a damage boost, but for survivability for melee Amara it’s an alright little bonus. It can’t hold a candle to the better Amara legendary class mods in Borderlands 3, but if you don’t have them and this drops for you, it’s most likely better than a random common class mod. It gives bonus points for Personal Space, which is nice. Other than that, it’s just not a very exciting class mod.

5. Elementalist

elementalist

Elementalist is only worthwhile because it modestly improves the best Action Skill Amara has access to, which is Ties that Bind + Stillness of Mind/Allure. Ties that Bind links enemies together so they all take a portion of the damage inflicted on any enemy in the link. Allure/Stillness of Mind CCs everything in the link. Elementalist adds a DoT to everything in the link. It’s not a huge amount of damage, but it just makes Ties that Bind/Stillness of Mind that much better. It grants bonuses to Wildfire, Infusion and Violent Tapestry. None of which are… great.

4. Nimbus – Borderlands 3 Amara Class Mods

If you remember Maya’s Cloudkill and Ruin skills from Borderlands 2, Nimbus is sort of a spiritual successor to that. It creates a lingering cloud of your status effect element around whatever target is first hit by her Action Skill. What makes this good (not as good as the Phasezerker or Spiritual Driver) is that the damage of the cloud scales with your gun damage, so if you use an Ion Cannon that has a 250% weapon damage on Phasecast anointment, the cloud puts out considerable damage. Outside of this, it’s kind of a gimmick, but it’s an interesting and fun gimmick and it gives you some incentive to use Phasecast as an Action Skill. +2 Tempest is the most valuable of the actual skill point bonuses.

3. Golden Rule – Borderlands 3 Amara Class Mods

Golden Rule lowers your Action Skill cooldown whenever you take damage, making you capable of spamming Phasecast constantly, which is pretty much the reason you would want this mod. This isn’t nearly as gamebreaking as Phasezerker or Spiritual Driver, but it is pretty good, given all the benefits Amara’s capable of proccing with her Action Skill. It gives bonuses to Mindfulness, which is alright, but Mindfulness isn’t that great overall when you’re not wearing a Spiritual Driver. Laid Bare is probably the best skill that it enhances, and it’s kind of a B- skill overall. Still, if spamming Phasecast sounds like your kind of thing, Golden Rule is the way to go.

2. Phasezerker – Borderlands 3 Amara Class Mods

Phasezerker isn’t quite as glitchy-feeling as Spiritual Driver, but it is a significant damage increase. It gives you 5 extra rush stacks that help scale your Mystical Assault skills, and it also gives a damage increase & cooldown reduction scaling for rush stacks. The actual skills that get boosted by the Phasezerker are somewhat mediocre, but that’s beside the point since its unique perk is so impressive.

1. Spiritual Driver

Spiritual Driver is no joke and it’s easy to see why this is the most sought after class mod for Amara by far. Not only does the effect of inflicting status effects on yourself synergize incredibly well with Mindfulness and an Elemental Projector artifact, the damage bonus you get from movespeed on the Spiritual Driver mod is ridiculous. At max Mindfulness stacks, moving fullspeed, it can be roughly a 5x damage increase. Not only that, because of the bizarre way that Borderlands 3 calculates damage, you can inflict a DoT on a target while stationary, then start zooming around the battlefield and the DoT damage will increase in real-time. Spiritual Driver is just absolutely bonkers. Try to get the maximum amount of bonus to Mindfulness you can on the mod. The other skills are helpful, but not a priority by any means.
