Well, here it is. This is my inaugural blog post. If you’re reading this, then you’ve found where it all started. Of course, I really started a long time ago, before I even decided to add a blog. And, in fact, this is my second blog — so I’ve done this before.
This time I’m starting a new blog with, hopefully, greater focus than I had before. I’m currently writing a book; I’m very excited about it, and I hope anyone reading this will be, too.
The genre is superhero fiction. I wanted to take an ensemble cast of characters and have something incredibly modern, which has a depth of meaning and relatability that can only really be explored in a novel format.
I used to be an avid writer. Back in college, when I initially got my undergrad in creative writing and literature — before I wound up with a ramshackle career in video games — I was writing at least 10 short stories a year. I feel like, not only have I lost the sense of creative accomplishment that came with that, but also the ability to adopt, filter, repackage, and relate the most important things that shine in my life experience into stories of value for other people to read.
Now that I’m older, I have a great deal more life experience to draw on, a lot more confidence, and more to say. At the moment I’m about 80 computer-typed pages into the novel. It’s a journey of discovering my artistic passions, challenging my sense of self-discipline, and exploring the parts of my past, present and fantasies of the future to really come up with something I hope the world will appreciate.
I’m hoping to update this blog regularly — about how my book is going, or for any other reason. I hope you’ll come back and join me.
