THE BEST Borderlands 3 Fl4k Build for Endgame

If you’re playing Borderlands 3 as Fl4k and you’re getting toward the end of the game, you’re going to want to know the best possible, most OP, ridiculous Borderlands 3 Fl4k build you can achieve. Well, first of all I can tell you, it’s definitely not the pet tree. Just kidding. Like Zane, Fl4k has one Borderlands 3 Fl4k build that far outshines all others and, even if you’re not going to spec into it, you should probably know what it is.

This post has been updated for level 65. Level 65 doesn’t change too much for Fl4k, but now he’s able to pick up Frenzy for an extra damage increase.

Borderlands 3 Best Endgame Builds for Vault Hunters:
Amara Zane Fl4k Moze

Fl4k is all about abusing Fade Away and getting unlimited crits on everything. To that end, what you want to achieve with any Borderlands 3 Fl4k Build is massive crit damage and as much uptime for his Fade Away skill as possible.

The Build – Best Borderlands 3 Fl4k Build

best borderlands 3 fl4k build

This is not a very controversial Borderlands 3 Fl4k build. Fade Away Fl4k is pretty much standard and there’s not really a lot of ways it can be improved upon. The Master tree is largely not very beneficial and pretty much every point is accounted for. However, it is very effective, and, using it, you’ll be able to absolutely destroy bosses in seconds. Usually within one Fade Away cast.

Stalker – Best Borderlands 3 Fl4k Build

Furious Attack – Adds gun damage and a bunch of other minor, irrelevant bonuses. The main thing here is if you’re using a gun that fires a lot of pellets, like a Maggie or a Hellwalker, you’ll have +20% gun damage pretty much all the time.

Self-Repairing System – This is not a particularly useful skill, but you’ll have to dump some filler points somewhere a few times as you go through the tree and this is the best of the worst.

Overlocked – Gives 10% fire rate, which isn’t bad. It’s not great, but it’s not terrible. Gives another 10% on reload. Overall, it’s alright. Better than dumping more points into Self-Repairing System.

Lick the Wounds – Another filler point. This one comes in handy. Your pet revives you if you get knocked down. Worth a point, especially since if you didn’t put it here, you’d be putting it in some other filler skill.

Turn Tail and Run – Several benefits, but the main one is you get +25% gun damage while standing still. That’s a decent increase, and it works well with Fade Away.

The Fast and the Furryous – Another +25% gun damage. It’s… really starting to add up, isn’t it?

Hidden Machine – Fl4k deals +30% damage to targets that aren’t attacking him. That’s quite a big increase. And targets aren’t attacking him if he’s in Fade Away, so it’s pretty much just a flat +30% damage increase.

The Power Inside – You get +50% damage if you activate Fade Away at full health. It’s a very boring capstone skill, but it’s also extremely powerful. +50% damage is insane.

As you can see, a lot of somewhat boring skills, but you just stack up a ton of damage multipliers and gun damage bonuses that help make it an extremely effective Borderlands 3 Fl4k build. Speccing down this tree pretty much just doubles your damage overall, not to mention the Fade Away skill itself and the crit damage bonuses you get from its augmentations.

Beastmaster – Best Borderlands 3 Fl4k Build

Persistence Hunter – Increases gun damage by 12% and makes Fade Away last 7 seconds instead of 5 seconds. It’s pretty much perfect for this Borderlands 3 Fl4k build and well worth 3 points.

Ferocity – Increases pet damage. It’s not very useful, we just need to put 2 points into it to unlock the next tier.

Frenzy – Provides a significant damage increase. Unfortunately at level 65 we only have enough points in this Borderlands 3 Fl4k build to get it to rank 4, but it’s still a powerful skill.

Hunter – Best Borderlands 3 Fl4k Build

Interplanetary Stalker – You get a stack of Interplanetary Stalker every time you kill an enemy, up to 3 stacks. Overall it’s a 30% damage, and if you have the Bounty Hunter class mod, it’s basically up all the time.

Hunter’s Eye – You gain a few bonuses of varying effectiveness vs. specific creature types. Only worthwhile if you’re using the Bounty Hunter class mod. Otherwise, spec into Leave No Trace.

Head Count – Gives a 30% chance on crit to lower Action Skill cooldown by 2 seconds. You want this, because it can reset your cooldown really fast and you’re super reliant on your action skill being available.

Two F4ng – 25% chance for each projectile to fire a second shot. This is basically a 25% damage increase overall. Extremely good.

Big Game – Increases the efficacy of Hunter Kill Skills by 30%. This skill is not great, since we’re only taking one kill skill (Interplanetary Stalker), it boosts its effect by a negligible amount (33% damage vs 30%). However, it does double the buff duration. Your other options are Leave No Trace, Ambush Predator and The Most Dangerous Game. None of them are extremely good for a Borderlands 3 Fl4k build.

Galactic Shadow – Just a flat 15% critical damage increase. Decent enough for a Borderlands 3 Fl4k build.

Most Dangerous Game – The level cap increase to 57 allows you to now pick up The Most Dangerous Game. If you’re using the Bounty Hunter mod, this is a very useful skill to have. Sizable bonus to gun damage and critical hit damage.

Megavore – Gives you a 20% chance to crit even when you’re not hitting weak points. This is useful in conjunction with Headcount for lowering your Action Skill cooldown.

Grim Harvest – Now that you’re level 60, you’ll have some leftover points. Might as well put them into Grim Harvest for the slight increase to gun damage! Leave No Trace would also be a good option.

As you can see, the best Borderlands 3 Fl4k build is a little boring. Nothing particularly changes his playstyle. It’s all about just stacking damage, gun damage and crit damage multipliers up as much as possible. Then you go into Fade Away with an Unforgiven and blast off ridiculous damage numbers. A bit of a one-trick pony but that one trick kills bosses in like 2-3 hits, so it’s a pretty good trick.

Action Skills – Best Borderlands 3 Fl4k Build

There is only really one option here, both for the Action Skills itself and its augmentations, and any deviation from it is going to be a very noticeable downgrade in overall effectiveness. Fade Away is the clear choice for an Action Skill. Fade Away is so far and away better than all his other options that you’d have to be absolutely bonkers to pick anything else. I mean — invisibility and unlimited crits or… send two weak rakks to attack one enemy? The choice is clear.

For the augmentations, you’re going to want to go with Guerillas in the Mist, which significantly reduces Fade Away’s duration, but increases crit damage and grants all shots fired in Fade Away 100% crit chance with no limitation. This is a must-have. For the second one, you want Unblinking Eye, because it’s very strong and adds a large amount of critical hit damage while its competitors are very weak and do practically nothing.

You should use the skag, since it adds 5% damage, or the monkey because it looks cool. Up to you. (Choose the monkey).

Weapons – Best Borderlands 3 Fl4k Build

The first absolute must-have weapon for Fl4k is going to be the Unforgiven pistol from Jakobs, which adds up to 432% critical hit damage. You want this even if you don’t plan on using it, because Borderlands 3 is full of weird bugs and one of them is crit swapping. Damage dealt is always attached to your current damage modifiers, not the modifiers from when the damage was fired.

Thus, you can shoot another gun and then swap to the Unforgiven before the bullets land and the other gun will get that absurd 432% critical hit damage, as well as the benefits of whatever anointment is on your Unforgiven. If that’s too much hassle for you, using the Unforgiven on its own is perfectly fine.

Some other fantastic options for Fl4k are The Wedding Invitation, Lyuda, and any guns with powerful on-crit effects and/or multiple pellets. The Queen’s Call/King’s Call is a very strong option for Fl4k. Hellwalker is another gun I particularly like for Fl4k. Rowan’s Call is also very good for mobbing. Cutsman tends to be pretty good (as it is on all characters), because it’s really easy to crit swap with since the bullets move so slow.

Other Equipment – Best Borderlands 3 Fl4k Build

Like with most characters, your best in slot shield is The Transformer. However, shield isn’t particularly important for Fl4k. An elemental damage anointment is nice, but not particularly necessary for Fl4k.

Grenade is a similar situation. As always, a Recurring Hex tends to be the best option for damage, but It’s Piss is probably the best option overall. It doesn’t really matter. If you don’t know, Hex homes on a target and then splits into a bunch of different energy beams that damage it, and It’s Piss debuffs its targets to take 20% increased damage from all sources. You do want the anointment that grants 25% more damage for 6 seconds after throwing a grenade.

For the class mod, there’s no substitute for a good Bounty Hunter class mod, which makes bosses get calculated as robots, beasts and humans for the purposes of his Hunt Skills. Ends up being a very significant damage increase. It’s not gamebreaking and build-altering like Zane’s Seein’ Dead or Amara’s Spiritual Driver, but it’s quite good. If you don’t have one, you can substitute a Cosmic Stalker without noticing much difference.

For your artifact, you want an Otto Idol, preferably with the Elemental Projector prefix. This is because Fl4k doesn’t have any good options for lifesteal, so refilling your health with kills goes a long way. It’s a noticeable boost to general effectiveness, and he doesn’t benefit as much from the Victory Rush because you want to be stationary as much as possible to achieve maximum damage potential.
