7. Cold Warrior
This mod applies a random status effect whenever an enemy is frozen. It gives bonuses to Trick of the Light and Synchronicity, which are pretty good skills, as well as Ready for Action, which is meh. Frankly, this is only useful at all in a Calm, Cool, Collected build and even then the bonus is pretty insignificant. It’s not exciting or unique, it doesn’t accomplish much. Overall, just a pretty weak legendary. If you find a purple class mod with better skill bonuses, you’ll probably prefer it.
6. Techspert
Techspert gives a 5% chance on kill to recharge SNTNL cooldown and duration. It’s an abysmally low chance, but at least the effect is good. Your SNTNL uptime benefits. That said, the benefit you get from this is small, and it’s not game-changing in any way. The skills it gives bonuses to are extremely bad. Even though it’s a SNTNL mod, its bonuses aren’t even from the SNTNL tree. There’s not too much to say about this except that it’s boring and underwhelming.
5. Shockerator
Do you like novas? Because that’s what the Shockerator does. It’s more of a gimmick than anything else, because Novas aren’t particularly relevant. It gives you the Binary System augment for free, which is pretty useful except for the fact that Zane’s other clone augments are super worthwhile, so you’re probably using Binary System anyway. It also makes the clone trigger a shock nova every time it gets hit with a melee attack which… isn’t very useful. It gives bonuses to Duct Tape Mod and Pocket Full of Grenades, which is kind of nice. It also gives bonuses Best Served Cold, which generates a Cryo Nova when enemies are killed. You almost certainly don’t have points in Best Served Cold, so it’s kind of fun to get that nova, I guess. Anyway, it’s better than a purple at least, and novas are pretty fun even if they aren’t very useful.
4. Infiltrator – Borderlands 3 Zane Class Mods
This mod would be good except the drawback is huge. You lose your shields every time you use an action skill, and its bonus only applies its full effect when your shields are depleted. Even then, the bonus you get isn’t even close to the bonus you get with Antifreeze by just jumping. Its bonuses are also pretty underwhelming. You get some movespeed, bullet dodge chance and a few points into Violent Momentum, which aren’t bad, but they’re not that great either.
3. Executor – Borderlands 3 Zane Class Mods
You may be noticing a pattern, which is that all of Zane’s class mods so far are boring, have lame effects, and give bonuses to B and C tier skills. Executor is… also that, but it’s better than the others. It gives Zane an additional kill skill, which improves accuracy (who cares), handling (who cares), critical hit damage (okay), status effect damage (who cares) and status effect chances (who cares). So it’s basically a critical hit damage kill skill. At least it gives bonuses to useful DPS skills like Playing Dirty, Violent Violence and Good Misfortune. The kill skill is not great, but it’s not bad either. At least it’s a nice, straightforward DPS increase instead of something pointless like weak, situational status effects.
2. Antifreeze – Borderlands 3 Zane Class Mods
Antifreeze is actually quite powerful. 40% damage is nothing to sneeze at, and it’s very possible to be sliding and jumping around everywhere at all times, especially on PC. You do have to change your playstyle in kind of a weird way to really get the full benefit of this mod but at least it’s not boring. Gains all sorts of movespeed bonuses, as well as a bonus to Violent Momentum, which converts movespeed to additional damage. The bonuses reinforce the playstyle that the mod perk encourages, so it’s thematically cohesive. Easily the best mod on this list so far.
1. Seein’ Dead
Easily the best mod for Zane and it has no competition whatsoever. If we were doing this like a tier list, Seein’ Dead is an S, Antifreeze is an A, and everything else is C, D and below. Seein’ Dead, unlike Zane’s other mods, which mostly suck, is super OP and it turns Zane into a killing machine. It totally outclasses Zane’s Hitman capstone ability (so spec out of that immediately if you have it). It gives every kill skill 25% increased effect and gives a (pretty high) chance to activate all his kill skills any time you inflict damage. It says weapon damage, but this thing will get procced by your drone and other sources of damage. The 25% increased kill skill effect alone would make it a contender for Zane’s best mod (mostly because his other mods are terrible), but proccing all of Zane’s kill skills (he has like 9 of them) is insanely good. On top of that, the bonuses this mod gives are to Zane’s best DPS skills: Donnybrook (gun damage kill skill), Playing Dirty (double damage chance), and Violent Violence (fire rate). There is no other option for Zane. Use this mod.
