If you’re playing Fae Tactics, you’re probably wondering which party members to use, what bonuses each character gets as they level up, and what each character’s weapons do. This Fae Tactics Peony guide will teach you all that you need to know about Peony.
There are 10 available characters in Fae Tactics, called ‘leaders’. In Fae Tactics Peony is one of your available characters. Peony is the main character and she’s required in almost every fight, so you better get used to using her.

Abilities – Fae Tactics Peony
Ultra Skills
Like every other leader character in Fae Tactics Peony gets both an Ultra Attack Skill and an Ultra Assist Skill. For Peony, these are:
- Ultra Attack: Soul Nova
Unleash a wave of magic in a (2-3*) space radius - Ultra Assist: Wish
Increases Evd and Crit Dmg.
*Range of Soul Nova depends on Peony’s Trait Points.
EX Skill
Like other leaders in Fae Tactics Peony can use a portion of her ultra orbs to perform an EX skill. For Peony, the skill is:
- Null Strike: Adds Silence to attack and lowers target’s Def. (Costs 2 Ultra)
Passive Bonuses
Like most characters in Fae Tactics Peony has a variety of character-specific bonuses that she gets regardless of which weapon she’s using. For Peony, these are:
- Steal: Takes Enchantment from Target on kill if no Enchantment is already in place
- +Atk for each kill

Peony’s available Fae Tactics weapons are the Soul Flame, the Rangarok and the Earthshaker.

Review: This is the weapon you’ll use for Peony whenever the Ragnarok’s Ice element is a liability. The ability to change the element by equipping different scrolls makes it her most versatile weapon. Typically you’ll be using it with Electric or Water scrolls, to deal extra damage against Arcane enemies and Fire enemies (that deal extra damage to ice). Otherwise, Ragnarok tends to be better overall.

Review: This is probably Peony’s best weapon, all things considered, as long as enemies aren’t Fire types. Peony has good movement range and the combo ability that melee weapons get comes in handy a lot more often than the Chain wait skill the Soul Flame gets, especially considering other characters get innate chain on their weapons — no wait skill required.
Ice is a very useful element and the Ragnarok’s Pierce skill allows it to hit two targets per attack. The Ice Reaction Ability (Cold Snap), which attacks every adjacent square with a chance to inflict Freeze, is also pretty good.

Review: Despite being Peony’s last weapon, the Earthshaker is probably her worst. It give Peony the Protector wait skill, but Peony herself isn’t particularly tanky, so you don’t really want her to be taking all the hits for your team.
The Push property is useful, as there are a lot of maps where you can OHKO enemies by knocking them into water or into holes.
The only reason you’d really want to use this weapon is if you’re fighting a lot of Wind elemental enemies, but even then I think it’s probably better to use the Soul Flame with an Earth scroll.
Traits – Fae Tactics Peony
In Fae Tactics Peony, like every other character, has 3 options when allocating Trait Points: Offense, Defense, and Special.
The bonuses she gets from each line are:
- Offense: Soul Nova +Range
- Defense: Wish +Evd/Crit
- Special: Spell Cooldown on Kill
For Peony, you’ll most likely want to focus on Offense first. She needs the boost to attack power because her attack power is fairly middling even though she’s not useful in any role other than being an attacker. The Soul Nova Range boost is a nice bonus.
After that, Special is probably the best place to dump points because the ability to reduce Spell Cooldowns is a fairly nice perk and it’s unique to Peony. With that perk, sometimes you can get lucky and dramatically increase your party’s effectiveness in just a few turns by repeatedly casting spells like Rally and Acid Rain.
Scroll Options – Fae Tactics Peony
Peony is somewhat unique in Fae Tactics in that the element for her default weapon, Soul Flame, can be changed by equipping the various Elemental Assault and Elemental Defense scrolls. With that in mind, here are some scrolls that are useful to equip on Peony:
Peony doesn’t have exceptional defense, so this scroll gives her some extra damage and increased survivability when attacking most challenging enemies. Mostly useful if you’re using the default Arcane element for her Soul Fire weapon or if you’re using her Ice elemental Ragnarok spear.
This scroll changes Peony’s element to Electric when using her Soul Flame weapon. Out of all the elemental scrolls, this is the most useful because Electric tends to be the best element. Its only weakness is Earth, which is fairly rare to encounter, and it’s the only element that crits against Arcane, which is very common to encounter.
Fire, which is weak to water, is a very common element for enemies, especially toward the end of the game, meaning you’ll get a lot of use out of the water scroll. Peony can cover most elemental weaknesses with her Ice and Earth weapons, leaving only Fire and Ice uncovered, which you’ll want to cover through scrolls.
Conclusion – Fae Tactics Peony
Peony, despite being the main character and being required in every battle, is not great. If you don’t count Talismans and Summons (both of which require Peony), she’s a mediocre fighter.
Peony’s main saving grace is her elemental versatility. She can change the element of her default weapon by equipping scrolls, which means you can always outfit Peony to have an elemental advantage on every map.
Her ultra is decent — nowhere near as good as Claudia’s or Matilda’s, but decent. She’s average or slightly above average in every category, but nothing to write home about.
Her offensive isn’t great, but it’s not terrible. Her defense isn’t great, but it’s not terrible. Her weapons are decent, but not exceptional. She gets a fairly useful Ice elemental spear and a somewhat useless Earth elemental tanking hammer. Why you’d want Peony to be your tank when Tom Tildrum and the Dust Lute summon exist, I have no idea.
It’s kind of a shame Peony is among the most mediocre Fae Tactics characters, because you have to use her in every fight.
