Bravely Default 2 Jobs Overview – Freelancer
Freelancer is the first of the Bravely Default 2 jobs available in the game and its skillset is fairly useful from the moment you get it until the end of the game. Examine is useful whenever you encounter a new monster, until it becomes outclassed by the Salve-Maker’s Survey skill, Divining Rod is a must-have on at least one character throughout the game, JP Up and JP Up and UP are must-haves, and Square One is practically a necessity in many boss fights.
In the endgame, Freelancer is generally the best subclass on almost every character thanks to the massive stat boosts it provides via its Late Bloomer specialty.

Bravely Default 2 Jobs Overview – White Mage
White Mage is your standard healer when it comes to Bravely Default 2 jobs and it has a variety of recovery skills that are indispensable from the moment you get them right through to the end of the game.
Unlike the Black Mage, the White Mage is pretty much irreplaceable throughout the game thanks to its powerful and straightforward skillset, although Salve-Maker and Spiritmaster give it a run for its money. You’ll most likely want it as a sub-job on at least one character throughout the entire game.

Monk – Bravely Default 2 Jobs
Rating – Bravely Default 2 Jobs
Bravely Default 2 Jobs Overview – Monk
Monk is extremely powerful among the Bravely Default 2 jobs when you first unlock it and remains the undisputed king of physical attack damage throughout most of the game until you unlock some of the later classes like Swordmaster and Phantom.
Eventually, though, it does get outclassed as equipment weight becomes less important and passive abilities from weapons become extremely powerful. Still, for a solid 60-80% of the game, Monk is the go-to physical damage class and Bare-Knuckle Brawler alone is worth giving it 4 stars.

Bard – Bravely Default 2 Jobs
Rating – Bravely Default 2 Jobs
Bravely Default 2 Jobs Overview – Bard
Bard is not a bad class in terms of Bravely Default 2 jobs, but it has two main problems holding it back.
First, in most battles where you’d want to boost your stats, you’re going to be either constantly healing or reserving your MP for healing, meaning you’d need a second support character to take care of all of your stat buffing, which would dramatically lower your damage output.
Second, by the time MP is no longer an issue, you’ll have a mastered Spiritmaster which will have Purebringer going off every round, purging all of your stat buffs. As a result, it’s hard to find room for a Bard in most parties. Epic Group-Cast is pretty good, though.

Beastmaster – Bravely Default 2 Jobs
Rating – Bravely Default 2 Jobs
Bravely Default 2 Jobs Overview – Beastmaster
Beastmaster is unexpectedly extremely powerful when it comes to Bravely Default 2 jobs. Even if you never invest time into its capture skills, it gains a variety of great passive abilities.
Thanks to its Creature Comforts specialty that increases its stats based on how many monsters you capture, it’s one of just a few Bravely Default 2 jobs that can act as an alternative sub-job to Freelancer in the endgame. The capture skills themselves are also surprisingly powerful and give the Beastmaster amazing versatility… if you invest the time.

Thief – Bravely Default 2 Jobs
Rating – Bravely Default 2 Jobs
Bravely Default 2 Jobs Overview – Thief
Godspeed Strike is extraordinarily powerful and stealing is situationally useful. Those are the main things to keep in mind when it comes to the Thief. As a combat class, it’s generally outclassed by other Bravely Default 2 jobs like the Monk, Swordmaster and Phantom but, as I mentioned, Godspeed Strike is exceptionally strong and spamming it is probably the best way to melt bosses until you get better strategies later in the game.

Gambler – Bravely Default 2 Jobs
Rating – Bravely Default 2 Jobs
Bravely Default 2 Jobs Overview – Gambler
Gambler is kind of a meme job in general. Its damage is highly random, and even at the high end of its damage, it still pales in comparison to what other, better Bravely Default 2 jobs can do reliably. The most useful thing from the Gambler skillset is unsurprisingly the Rare Talent passive, which increases the drop rate for rare items.

Berserker – Bravely Default 2 Jobs
Rating – Bravely Default 2 Jobs
Bravely Default 2 Jobs Overview – Berserker
Among the Bravely Default 2 jobs, Berserker is a decent physical attacker and Amped Strike is definitely a powerful skill when you get it. It has some good passives, specifically Indiscriminate Rage and Unshakeable Will. Decent is the best word to describe it. It’s not noticeably better than other Bravely Default 2 jobs like Thief or Monk when you get it, and like Thief and Monk it eventually gets outclassed by Swordmaster and Phantom.

Red Mage – Bravely Default 2 Jobs
Rating – Bravely Default 2 Jobs
Bravely Default 2 Jobs Overview – Red Mage
Red Mage is pretty much an upgrade on the Black Mage in every way. It gets more skill versatility, it tends to have higher magic power, and its Chainspell specialty makes it the go-to sub-job for magic users right through to the end of the game.
The main downside is its elemental variety is somewhat lacking, having only access to two elements which are both among the more rare weaknesses.
Still, even with just two elements, Red Mage is rarely left without at least a neutral damage option against enemies. It also has access to two excellent passives in Magic Critical and Revenge.

Ranger – Bravely Default 2 Jobs
Rating – Bravely Default 2 Jobs
Bravely Default 2 Jobs Overview – Ranger
Ranger is alright in terms of Bravely Default 2 jobs for the mid-game and its skills are actually quite powerful, if not a little MP demanding. Its passives are weak, so if you’re not actually in the Ranger job, you don’t get much out of it. There’s not too much to say about it, you’ll probably level it around the mid-game and then upgrade to one of the other Bravely Default 2 jobs when one becomes available and never look back.

Shieldmaster – Bravely Default 2 Jobs
Rating – Bravely Default 2 Jobs
Bravely Default 2 Jobs Overview – Shieldmaster
Shieldmaster is the main specialized tanking class when it comes to Bravely Default 2 jobs. It has more tanking tools and defensive power than the Vanguard at the expense of lower offense, and while it’s not quite as defensively powerful as the Bastion, the Bastion is lacking any kind of taunt or bodyguarding ability, so the Shieldmaster tends to be the de facto job for protecting your party from damage.
The Shieldmaster’s Protect Ally specialty seems guaranteed and limitless. Having a Shieldmaster in your party will definitely increase the survivability of your party and the nature of its protection skills pairs well with the Swordmaster’s Fluid Stance.

Pictomancer – Bravely Default 2 Jobs
Rating – Bravely Default 2 Jobs
Bravely Default 2 Jobs Overview – Pictomancer
Pictomancer is kind of a reverse Bard. The main problem with Pictomancer is not that it’s a bad class, it’s that its competition among the other Bravely Default 2 jobs is too stiff. It would make a fantastic sub-job for an attack mage thanks to its access to Light and Dark spells… but Red Mage, once you unlock Sub-Specialty 2, and Spiritmaster are way better choices for a sub-job.
Its debuffs are great for a support character, but it’s really difficult to pass up Spiritmaster on a support. For the brief window between when you unlock Pictomancer and when you get Spiritmaster, it makes a decent sub-job for white or black magic users.

Dragoon – Bravely Default 2 Jobs
Rating – Bravely Default 2 Jobs
Bravely Default 2 Jobs Overview – Dragoon
Among the Bravely Default 2 jobs, Dragoon is fast, it’s powerful and it has some interesting tools. Still, it doesn’t have the sheer killing power that some of the other late game physical attacking Bravely Default 2 jobs get access to. When you switch your attackers to it to master its abilities, you’ll be fairly happy with it, but once you’re done with it and move on, you probably won’t miss it.

Spiritmaster – Bravely Default 2 Jobs
Rating – Bravely Default 2 Jobs
Bravely Default 2 Jobs Overview – Spiritmaster
Spiritmaster is one of the best Bravely Default 2 jobs available. It’s definitely the best support job. Even before you master it, its skillset is useful, but once you master it, that’s when it begins to really shine. Its There in Spirit specialty makes all of its spirit skills persistently active as long as the user has 1 or fewer BP, even if the Spiritmaster is dead.
That means just having a maxed out Spiritmaster in your party will cast a Cura-level party-wide heal, cure most negative status effects, revive all party members, refill a significant amount of MP and gives everyone an extra BP every regularly for free. It’s hard to beat. Oh, also it’s passively immune to almost every status effect and can’t be killed by damage unless it’s at 1 HP already.

Swordmaster – Bravely Default 2 Jobs
Rating – Bravely Default 2 Jobs
Bravely Default 2 Jobs Overview – Swordmaster
Solid Stance is insanely good. It doubles your damage for 0 MP. In addition to that, its actual damaging abilities (Fourfold Flurry and Ninefold Flurry) are extremely powerful. Much more powerful than any of the skills on offer by other physical damage Bravely Default 2 jobs you have when the Swordmaster becomes unlocked.
Swordmaster is easily one of the premiere physical attack jobs out of all the Bravely Default 2 jobs. If you give it Indiscriminate Rage (Berserker), it can pretty much end every encounter for the rest of the game on its first turn.

Oracle – Bravely Default 2 Jobs
Rating – Bravely Default 2 Jobs
Bravely Default 2 Jobs Overview – Oracle
Oracle is deeply, deeply underwhelming, especially since you get it right after the arguably broken Spiritmaster job. Elemental Supplement is kind of nice, and Hastega is decent, but otherwise it’s a questionable upgrade to a standard Black Mage. Triple sounds nice in theory, but usually if an enemy is weak to one of the 3 core magic elements, it resists or absorbs the opposite one. And, as I mentioned in the Bard section, Spiritmaster’s Purebringer clears buffs, so if you want to use Elemental Supplement or Hastega, you have to forego having a Spiritmaster.

Salve-Maker – Bravely Default 2 Jobs

Bravely Default 2 Jobs Overview – Salve-Maker
Salve-Maker gives White Mage a run for its money. It’s an extremely useful class among the Bravely Default 2 jobs and makes an excellent sub-job for fast characters and tanks. You’ll definitely want to master this job on at least one character, if not multiple characters.

Arcanist – Bravely Default 2 Jobs
Rating – Bravely Default 2 Jobs
Bravely Default 2 Jobs Overview – Arcanist
Arcanist is a powerful mage, but damaging your own party is a major drawback. You can obviously turn it into your benefit by equipping enough elemental resistance gear to nullify or absorb the elements, but that’s not always feasible or worth the effort. The Arcanist specialties are at best underwhelming and at worst an outright drawback.
MP Regen and Magic Amp are both must-have passives for magic users. Even though Arcanist has the most powerful spells, it’s not possible to get Chainspell, Arcanist skillset and Freelancer stat bonuses all at once, and it’s better to cast Quake 8x with Freelancer stat bonuses than cast Meteor and have to choose between max stats and Chainspell.

Bastion – Bravely Default 2 Jobs
Rating – Bravely Default 2 Jobs
Bravely Default 2 Jobs Overview – Bastion
Bastion has a really interesting and powerful skillset. Unfortunately it lacks the one thing a tank class needs to really excel as a tank class, which is either a taunt or a guarding ability. Without either of those tools, Bastion is really a support mage with high defense. Bastion with a Shieldmaster sub-job, though, can really shine, although the reverse is often better because Shieldmaster gains BP and MP rapidly from its specialties.

Phantom – Bravely Default 2 Jobs
Rating – Bravely Default 2 Jobs
Bravely Default 2 Jobs Overview – Phantom
Phantom has the vast majority of damage increasing passive abilities, a strong skillset that rivals any other attack job’s, high attack power and ridiculously high speed. A Phantom with a Salve-Maker sub-job can not only be your main damage dealer, but also an invaluable support character. The only problem with Phantom is it requires a massive amount of MP to dish out the damage Swordmaster can deal for free, and as a main class it’s weight allowance is abysmally low. Still, it’s a really, really good option when it comes to Bravely Default 2 jobs.

Hellblade – Bravely Default 2 Jobs
Rating – Bravely Default 2 Jobs
Bravely Default 2 Jobs Overview – Hellblade
Hellblade’s high stats and MP regenerating specialty make is a surprisingly good main class for a magic-user. Obviously it’s also a strong physical attack class, but I’d point out it’s just generally a great main class. The big drawback is that if it dies, it automatically gets -3 BP, which is a pretty significant drawback. Overall, I think the best use of Hellblade is as a main class for a magic user until Freelancer/Beastmaster become powered up enough to overshadow it.

Bravely Default 2 Jobs Overview – Bravebearer
Bravebearer is the last of the Bravely Default 2 jobs you get for a reason. It’s among the best jobs in the game. Its Equaliser skill lets Brave to -3 BP every round with no consequences. With the Maximise HP Monk passive, its Gigagravity skill deals around 15,000 damage to all enemies per cast, guaranteed. Wall of Woe can keep bosses from getting to max BP, which can not only save your party from some big attacks, but also sometimes seriously messes up their AI.
Bravebearer also has a great selection of passive skills. Sub-Job Specialty 2, in particular, is one of the best in the game especially when paired with Freelancer or Spiritmaster.
