Bravely Default 2 Black Mage Job Overview
In Bravely Default 2 Black Mage is exactly what you’d expect from a basic, entry-level magic job. It has access to all the iconic Final Fantasy elemental spells such as Fire, Ice, Thunder and their -ara and -aga counterparts. It has high magic power, access to multiple elemental spells and a handful of passives that help it regenerate the MP it burns through. It remains viable in the endgame thanks to its elemental variety, but it ultimately gets outclassed by the more advanced magic jobs that have higher stats and better specialties.

Black Mage is a great job to use for the start of the game and mid-game, and you may even find a use for its specific elemental variety at the end of the game, but unlike some of the earlier jobs, it really begins to get completely overshadowed by the later, more powerful magic jobs that you eventually unlock.
