Without further ado, let’s get into the Darkest Dungeon 2 Highwayman Skills List.
1. Wicked Slice – Darkest Dungeon 2 Highwayman Skills
Wicked Slice deals 4-8 damage and ignores 20% of death resistance.
Usable: Ranks 1-3
Targets: Ranks 1-2 (Single Target)
Wicked Slice Mastery Upgrade: Increases damage to 6-9 and crit rate to 20%. Ignores 30% death resistance.
Review: Wicked Slice is Highwayman’s standard bread and butter attack. It’s pretty strong and it has a high crit rate. Nothing super special, nothing much to complain about.
2. Pistol Shot – Darkest Dungeon 2 Highwayman Skills
Pistol shot deals 3-6 damage.
Usable: Ranks 2-4
Targets: Ranks 2-4
Pistol Shot Mastery Upgrade: Increases damage to 4-8 and crit rate to 15%. Adds a riposte token if the enemy has a combo token.
Review: A weaker bread and butter attack that can be used at range. If you’re using Duelist’s Advance you probably won’t get much use out of this skill. Situationally useful for finishing off a back line enemy that’s almost dead before it gets a turn.
3. Duelist’s Advance – Darkest Dungeon 2 Highwayman Skills
Duelist’s Advance deals 3-5 damage and grants 2 riposte tokens. Moves forward one rank.
Usable: Ranks 2-4
Targets: Ranks 1-3 (Single Target)
Duelist’s Advance Master Upgrade: Increases damage to 4-6, grants 3 riposte tokens and grants a dodge token.
Review: Duelist’s Advance is an extremely useful skill. 3 Ripostes is roughly 12-24 damage. Between that and the damage of this skill, you’re outputting 16-30 damage. Not bad at all.
4. Tracking Shot – Darkest Dungeon 2 Highwayman Skills
Removes dodge tokens, ignores stealth.
Usable: Ranks 1-4
Targets: Ranks 2-4 (Single Target)
Tracking Shot Mastery Upgrade: Removes stealth as well. Inflicts a combo token.
Review: Enemies with dodge tokens are super annoying, especially the cultists and fanatics. Still, it’s hard to justify a skill slot for this, especially because Highwayman gets Highway Robbery which completely outclasses this skill as it steals positive tokens.
5. Take Aim – Darkest Dungeon 2 Highwayman Skills
Take Aim grants a crit token, a dodge token and removes blindness.
Usable: Ranks 1-4
Targets: Self
Take Aim Mastery Upgrade: Adds an extra crit token and adds a speed token.
Review: Take Aim is a great buff skill and it’s well worth a skill slot, as blindness is a very common debuff. It’s not so good that it’s a must-have, but it’s definitely a contender for a skill slot.
6. Point Blank Shot – Darkest Dungeon 2 Highwayman Skills
Point Blank Shot deals 6-12 damage, knocks back the enemy and applies a combo token. User moves back one rank.
Usable: Rank 1
Targets: Rank 1 (Single Target)
Point Blank Shot Mastery Upgrade: Increases damage to 10-13 and crit rate to 15%.
Review: This skill does a lot of damage, especially if you use Take Aim before casting it. Synergizes well with Duelist’s Advance to manage the positioning.
7. Grapeshot Blast – Darkest Dungeon 2 Highwayman Skills
Grapeshot Blast deals 2-4 damage to both enemies in rank 1-2.
Usable: Ranks 2-4
Targets: Ranks 1-2 (Targets All)
Grapeshot Blast Mastery Upgrade: Increases damage to 4-5 and crit rate to 10%. Adds a riposte token when target has a combo token.
Review: After the mastery upgrade, Grapeshot Blast is just ok. Before that it does so little damage it’s barely worth using. Not one of Highwayman’s best, in my opinion.
8. Open Vein – Darkest Dungeon 2 Highwayman Skills
Open Vein deals 3-5 damage and inflicts a 2 damage bleed.
Usable: Ranks 1-3
Targets: Ranks 1-2 (Single Target)
Open Vein Mastery Upgrade: Increases base damage to 4-6 and increases bleed damage to 3. Crit chance increases to 10%.
Review: Open Vein is pretty much in direct competition with Wicked Slice to be Highwayman’s default bread and butter attack. It’s up to you whether you want the higher damage of Wicked Slice or the utility of Open Vein’s DoT. I’d take Open Vein since Highwayman has so many other options for straight damage.
9. Double Tap – Darkest Dungeon 2 Highwayman Skills
Double Tap deals 4-8 damage and 30% additional damage if the enemy is below 50% HP. Ignores 10% of death resistance.
Usable: Ranks 2-3
Targets: Ranks 2-3 (Single Target)
Double Tap Mastery Upgrade: Increases damage to 6-9 and ignores 20% death resistance.
Review: Double Tap is a fantastic skill, especially when it comes to chunking health off of big high HP enemies. The only issue with it is the positioning means it’s only available half of the time if you’re dancing around with Duelist’s Advance and Point Blank Shot.
10. Highway Robbery – Darkest Dungeon 2 Highwayman Skills
Destroys positive tokens. Ignores dodge tokens.
Usable: Ranks 2-4
Targets: Ranks 1-3 (Single Target)
Highway Robbery Mastery Upgrade: Steals 2 positive tokens instead of destroying tokens.
Review: After you get the mastery upgrade, Highway Robbery is a very useful skill, probably one of Highwayman’s best skills. There are so many enemies that apply really irritating positive tokens to themselves, like the cultists that buff themselves with dodge and crit tokens, and this counters them easily. I’m not sure why Tracking Shot exists when Highwayman gets this.
11. Double Cross – Darkest Dungeon 2 Highwayman Skills
Double Cross deals 2-4 damage and inflicts Vulnerable. It applies a block token to the user.
Usable: Ranks 1-2
Targets: Ranks 1-2 (Single Target)
Double Cross Mastery Upgrade: Increases damage to 3-5 and inflicts a second Vulnerable token.
Review: Double Cross does so little damage, I’m not sure why you would use this unless you’re using Highwayman as a main tank. Every turn you use this is a turn you could have used Duelist’s Advance or Double Tap. The tokens are great, but it’s just outclassed in my opinion.
