Overview & Review- Yakuza Like a Dragon Chef Job

yakuza like a dragon chef

The Yakuza Like a Dragon Chef job has a wide variety of attacks with all sorts of different secondary effects and damage types.

In terms of classic RPG archetypes, Chef is most similar to a Fighter/Mage.

The biggest strength of the Chef job is the versatility of its attacks. It can deal blunt, bladed and magical fire elemental type damage, meaning that it rarely faces an enemy that it can’t find a weakness for.

Chef can also inflict a variety of status effects, often in an area. Burning, stunned and bleeding are all in the Chef’s repertoire, and it even has skills that deal extra damage if you’re able to inflict those status effects.

Although it’s capable of hitting in an area, neither of its Essence level skills target more than one enemy. At least it has those area of effect skills to fall back on when facing big groups, although in the endgame they do leave a little to be desired.

Due to its numerous Magic bonuses, its magic skills tend to do the most damage, and it makes a second or third job for any character you’re trying to make into a mage because it provides both Magic and Agility, things that will benefit any good mage.

Overall the Chef is a pretty good class that really shines in the midgame and falls off a bit as you approach max level and begin doing endgame activities.

Yakuza Like a Dragon Chef Best Weapon

The best weapon for the Yakuza Like a Dragon Chef job is called the Scorching Spatula EX EX. Like all the best weapons, it’s obtained by upgrading a low level base weapon at the Romance Workshop in the Commercial District in Ijincho.

The base weapon you need is the Wooden Flipper, which you can get from the Dragon Kart Prize Shop for 100 coins or earn as a reward from the Part-time Hero quest “Takedown: Technomancer”.

To finish upgrading the weapon, you need a Damascus Ladle, which can buy from the Dragon Kart Prize Shop for 4,000 coins or win repeatedly from the 10th Floor of the Sotenbori Battle Arena.

Yakuza Like a Dragon Chef Accessory

The Job Experience accessory for the Yakuza Like a Dragon Chef Job is pretty easy to obtain. It’s called the Court Tongs. You can get one from Substory 31. Unfortunately there’s only one Court Tongs available in the game, so the Chef can only achieve a 1.5x Job Experience bonus.

Character Skills – Yakuza Like a Dragon Chef Job

Every job in Yakuza Like a Dragon has two specific Character Skills, which, once learned, can be used by that character no matter which job class they’ve been assigned.

For the Chef job, the character skills are:

Peppermill Blow: Damage an enemy with a large peppermill, which may lower their accuracy.

Vanquishing Pan: Heavily damage an enemy with a frying pan. Deals greater damage to stunned enemies.

Chef’s Character Skills (like most jobs) are pretty lackluster. Peppermill Blow is just a relatively low damage attack that will be outclassed by almost any Essence Skill.

Vanquishing Pan has its uses, but it’s mostly useful for the Chef itself, which has the ability to stun enemies fairly reliably. Only a handful of other jobs are capable of inflicting the stun status.
