Overview & Review- Yakuza Like a Dragon Hostess Job

yakuza like a dragon hostess

The Yakuza Like a Dragon Hostess job is entirely focused on single target ice elemental damage. Its most powerful spell is a fire elemental spell, oddly enough, but every other spell it learns is ice magic.

In terms of classic RPG archetypes, Musician is most similar to a Frost Mage.

When you first unlock Hostess it’s going to feel very powerful because its Sparkling Cannon spell does a lot of damage. However, as the game goes on, Hostess becomes rapidly less useful.

It has no multi-target spells. All of its spells are single target. Also, since it only learns single target ice magic, that means every time it learns a new spell, all its previous spells instantly become useless, as they’re just a weaker version of the same attack.

Where Hostess really starts to fall off is when the Essence-level skills begin to appear, as Host gets both Fire and Ice elemental target-all extreme damage spells, and Hostess just ends up with a single extreme damage fire spell that targets one enemy.

Also, unlike the Host or Homeless Guy, Hostess has no access to lightning elemental magic, which is arguably the best element. Men can learn Fulminating Forecast from the Fortuneteller job, but there is no equivalent spell available to women.

While Hostess is absolutely the best female magic job, it’s also the only female magic job, and making a viable female mage is an uphill battle at best. It completely pales in comparison to a male mage, and women in Like a Dragon are much better off focusing on physical damage via Matriarch and Night Queen, or healing as an Idol.

Yakuza Like a Dragon Hostess Best Weapon

yakuza like a dragon hostess best weapon

The best weapon for the Yakuza Like a Dragon Hostess job is called the Shining Pouch EX EX. Like all the best weapons, it’s obtained by upgrading a low level base weapon at the Romance Workshop in the Commercial District in Ijincho.

The base weapon you need is the Cotton Pouch, which you can get from the PIA Prize Exchange for 250 points or find randomly in silver safes in the Yokohama Underground Dungeon.

To finish upgrading the weapon, you need a Elegant Pouch, which can be bought from the Can Quest Prize Shop for 500,000 points (yikes) or bought from Le Marche in Kamurocho for 10,000,000 yen.

I would also note that upgrading the Diamond Orbuculum requires tons of Raw Diamond Ore, which is a real pain to farm for.

Yakuza Like a Dragon Hostess Accessory

The Job Experience accessory for the Yakuza Like a Dragon Hostess Job is pretty easy to obtain. It’s called the Magic Light. You can get one by completing the Part-time Hero quest “Vegetable Delivery 4”. Unfortunately, only one is available in the game, so the Hostess can only boost its job experience by 1.5x.

Character Skills – Yakuza Like a Dragon Hostess Job

Every job in Yakuza Like a Dragon has two specific Character Skills, which, once learned, can be used by that character no matter which job class they’ve been assigned.

For the Hostess job, the character skills are:

Sexy Pose: Lowers an enemy’s Defense with an alluring pose that saps their will to fight. May leave the enemy charmed.

Ice Spreader: Deal ice damage to an enemy by throwing crushed ice. May leave the enemy with a cold.

Neither of the Hostess’s Character Skills are very good. Sexy Pose is generally pretty useless and pales in comparison to both the charming skills of the Idol and the Defense debuff skills of the Musician.

Ice Spreader would be alright, except Hostess itself is the only magic-focused class available to females and even then it’s inferior to its male counterpart, the Host, because all of its spells are single target and it has no way to access any kind of lightning elemental magic.
