Overview & Review- Yakuza Like a Dragon Detective Job
In Yakuza Like a Dragon Detective definitely isn’t the best job in the world. It’s alright, but Adachi is one of the few characters who really benefits from switching out of his base job.
In terms of classic RPG archetypes, Detective is most similar to a Warrior.
Detective doesn’t have any target-all attacks. Its entire arsenal is single target or small area of effect blunt attacks. Blunt is the most common attack type in Like a Dragon. Pretty much every class has access to single target blunt physical attacks, so there’s really nothing special that the Detective job learns.
Detective gets a number of support skills, but none of them are particularly useful.
The main useful thing about Detective is actually the passive HP and Defense bonuses that it learns at higher levels, which are significant and, when combined with Adachi’s natural stats, give him the highest HP and Defense totals in the game.
Yakuza Like a Dragon Detective Best Weapon
The best weapon for the Yakuza Like a Dragon Detective job is called the Chromium Alloy Club EX EX. Like all the best weapons, it’s obtained by upgrading a low level base weapon at the Romance Workshop in the Commercial District in Ijincho.
The base weapon you need is the Carbon Police Baton, which can be found in a silver safe in an alley in the Eastern part of the Ijincho Red Light District. It can also be found randomly in silver safes in the Yokohama Underground Dungeon. Finally, when Kamurocho reopens, you can buy them from the Maruhan prize shop for 250 points.
To finish upgrading the weapon, you need a Club of Holy Might, which can be won from Floor 20 of the Sotenbori Battle Arena or bought in Le Marche in Kamurocho for 10 million yen.

Yakuza Like a Dragon Detective Accessory
The Job Experience accessory for the Yakuza Like a Dragon Detective Job is pretty easy to obtain. It’s called the Vintage Notebook. You get one early on from Substory 11, and they can also be purchased from the secret shop in Southwest Ijincho (at the absolute most Southwest point of the map, Demolition skill required).
Since you can obtain multiple Vintage Notebooks, Detective is able to equip two at once to boost its job experience by 2x.
Character Skills – Yakuza Like a Dragon Detective Job
Every job in Yakuza Like a Dragon has two specific Character Skills, which, once learned, can be used by that character no matter which job class they’ve been assigned.
For the Detective job, the character skills are:
Slick Tongue: Adachi uses his commanding tone as a former detective to provoke all enemies, which may leave them enraged.
Grand Helmsplitter: Heavily damage an enemy by striking them squarely on the head, which may leave them stunned. This skill is more likely to stun when Adachi has high remaining HP.
Detective’s character skills aren’t horrible, but they’re not amazing either. Slick Tongue is gained automatically, so no leveling is required. Enrage is of questionable utility and Enforcer has a lot better ways to apply it.
Grand Helmsplitter is a pretty good attack that has a decently high chance of inflicting stun. It’s a decent attack, but Yakuza Like a Dragon has no shortage of decent attacks, so there’s not too much incentive to go out of your way to get it.
